Rhoades Presents Palmerton Borough With $10,000 GrantPALMERTON BOROUGH – Senator James J. Rhoades (R-29) today presented officials from the Palmerton Borough with a check for $10,000 for the purchase and installation of lights at the Palmerton Borough Park. The funding was awarded through the Department of Community and Economic Development's Community Revitalization grant program. The program's primary goal is to help local governments, non-profit organizations and industrial development agencies work to improve their local communities, said Rhoades. "The Palmerton Park Lighting project is the continuation of an overall Borough Park improvement plan. Furthermore, these lights will provide safer conditions for our citizens," said Rhoades. "I was more then pleased to help secure funding for this project." The funding allowed for the installation of more lights in various parts of Borough Park. In addition, the lighting will improve the park side of the street to be consistent with improvements to the business district on Delaware Avenue. "The purpose of the Community Revitalization Program is to bring state tax dollars back to community groups that are committed to revitalizing Carbon County," said Rhoades. "I am pleased to award this grant that will help our community for many years to come."
