Rhoades Presents Porter Township With $20,000 GrantPORTER TOWNSHIP – Senator James J. Rhoades (R-29) today presented officials from the Porter Township with a check for $20,000 for the purchase of a Municipal Truck. The funding was awarded through the Department of Community and Economic Development's Community Revitalization grant program. The program's primary goal is to help local governments, non-profit organizations and industrial development agencies work to improve their local communities, said Rhoades. "This funding will better equip the township to deal with the upcoming winter weather. Further, this truck will provide safer road conditions for our citizens," said Rhoades. "I was more then pleased to help secure funding for this project." The township will purchase a new heavy-duty truck and plow to replace an older light-duty vehicle which is in need of repair. The truck will be used to plow narrow streets and dirt roads in the township, as well as to haul roadwork equipment, mowers and small tools and equipment. "The purpose of the Community Revitalization Program is to bring state tax dollars back to community groups that are committed to revitalizing Schuylkill County," said Rhoades. "I am pleased to award this grant that will help our community for many years to come."
